A gorgeous design displaying decorative
motifs and objects associated with the Shakers. Starting
from the top row on the left, there is a stack of four
of the traditional nesting boxes, then a little patchwork
quilt & finally a star. The next row, from right to
left, has a willow tree, a heart & a little bird: birds
& hearts were probably the most popular motifs in all
Shaker art forms. The bottom row, from left to right,
shows a tulip which was the flower most commonly represented,
the heart in hand design which symbolised marriage,
love & friendship & finally a traditional house.
This kit has a small amount of optional
surface stitching (backstitch) in stranded cotton on
the boxes & patchwork quilt squares.
