This counted
cross stitch kit is based on an original nineteenth
century sampler. The verse was a very popular one used
in the Arts & Crafts period, and can be found in
many different forms, including being painted as a border
on walls. During this time in particular the ethos of
employing your time wisely and creatively was much in
favour, and the sentiment is definitely one of the more
uplifting verses from surviving samplers of this period:
"Seven
hours to work, to soothing slumber seven,
ten to the world allot, and all to heaven."
This kit uses wonderful hand dyed
threads giving the design a very traditional antique
faded look. Using hand dyed threads your needlework
project will never be a carbon copy of anyone else's
because each skein is unique in itself.
The
design is worked on Zweigart 28 count Brittney fabric
with hand
dyed stranded
cotton from the
Gentle Art
'Sampler' range,
Crescent Colors, The Dye is Cast and Weeks Dye Works
and silk from The Thread Gatherer Silk 'n Colors range.
The worked area measures 9½ x 6¾ ins (24 x 17 cm).
The
counted cross stitch kit contains stranded cotton and
silk threads (floss), fabric, needle, chart and instructions.
